sponsorship for brother in law

Post by ruthhany » Tue Feb 09, 2010 1:56 pm

My husband is Egyptian I am English. We have been married for almost 2 years. I have spent a lot of time with him in Egypt and in England when he visited on a family visa sponsored by my sister. My sister wants to sponsor him to join me in the uk to live with me and work in the uk, can she do this? She will financially support him until he finds work. I am ill at the moment and unable to sponsor him financially. My sister works with a salary of £24000 and owns her own house.

Needs to apply for spouse settlement visa f he wants to join you for good and be able to work.

On visit visa( if granted - highly unlikely) max he can stay is 6 months and he will not be allowed to work at all.

So think about spouse rather than visitor visa

Thank you for your reply. What i really need to know is if my sister can sponsor my husband on a settlement visa to join me. Does it have to be the wife who is sponsor? Are all circumstances taken into account. I am ill at the moment and not working and have no saving. I do have a property which is in joint names with my equity at about £40.000 which will go on the market shortly but this could take an indefinate time to sell. Thank you for your help and advice.

In your prsent circumstances you will be struggling to get your husband here by whatever method you use.

You as his spouse must show that you can support, maintain and accommodate him with recourse to public funds.

In your present predicament you are going to struggle. Your sister can not do things for you and even if she did, the application will still be refused as you yourself can not show you can do any of above.

Sorry :(
