Dependant child over 19 years old

Post by soulfullness » Sat Feb 27, 2010 6:03 pm

Hi all
Can anyone advise me on this.

We all including my child entered UK under HSMP and child as a dependant. But my child then went outof UK for studies and now over 19 years old. Meantime we all got our ILR except my child. Can he apply to join parents in UK permanenetly?

Thank you all

Does he still have a valid UK visa? Or has it expired?

Don't believe so.

Hi John

He does not have dependant visa but visitors visa only and live outside UK. This is because we entered UK together under HSMP but due to education purposes he has to go out side UK and could not get the extension to HSMP after one year. But remaining family members got the extension and subsequently ILR. My problem now is how he ca join the family later permanently.
Please advise

Sounds like he's leading an independent life to me - so no ILR.

Wanderer, I agree, based upon what we have been told by soulfullness, no way will the son get ILR.

soulfullness, your son going abroad to study, was any thought at all given to the effects of that on his visa situation? At the very least, rather bad planning.
