polygamy or 2nd marriage

Post by questioner » Wed Mar 10, 2010 2:27 pm

If some body marries before divorcing their first husband, can the second marriage be valid in immigration purposes.

i.e. 1st marriage in 2000
2nd marriage in 2001
divorce 1st marriage in 2002

Because if some body gets refused their visa on this ground then what can they do?

No! The UK is in the 21st Century!

WRT to 2) I'd imagine they'd have to remarry but a refusal like this will most likely put the mockers on it.

what if the second wife's application to come to the UK is refused on this ground - that the husband was still married to his first wife at the time of his marriage with wife no 2, then what can they do ?

Just curious, where did they get married? Outside the UK? Where are they now, is the principal in the UK and is trying to get the second wife to come to UK? Is the first wife in the UK?
