I'm already here, do I have to go home to apply?

Post by Nukite » Wed Mar 10, 2010 5:36 pm

Hi,

My work permit expires in September 2010 and I my company would like to sponsor me for a Tier 2.

Everyone I know who's made the change has had to go home and wait for the visa. However I've heard that if you apply early enough you needn't go home.

Can someone confirm this or tell me where to get info on it?

Thanks!!

Yeah, of-course you can stay here if you apply early. Also, read your other question about matching the code, would recommend that you put the nearest code that matches to your job.

The codes are not developed according to individual titles, but they do aim to cover as much as possible. So lookup your closest match and use that.

find out exactly under which category your current leave is. Then go to ukba website, under tier 2, check whether you are allowed to switch into tier 2 category under eligibility section.

It depends totally on your current leave to determine if you can apply in-county or not

1. U can switch in country.
2. U company needs to be registered with UKBA and then issue you a licence.
2. U also need to make sure that u job and wages matches with the CODE OF PRACTICE LIST and it is an eligible job for the visa.
