Extension in tier 2

Post by ashiqanjum » Mon Jan 11, 2010 3:06 pm

Hi all,

I was on work permit and now got an extension under Point based system in Tier 2.

The home office has sent a separate note which states:

"I am pleased to tell you that we have approved your application and granted you visa until 02 January 2012".

and then a confusing statement which I could not understand:

"On this occasion the UK Border Agency has exceptionally decided to grant you a further two years leave to remain which will take your total stay in the United Kingdom beyond five years".

What is the reason for a separate note?

I had applied for 30 months extension but I have been given the extension for 24 months. Any reasons?

Thanks

AA

My sponsorship letter goes up to June 2012 and this is the time I will complete five years. However, I have been granted leave to remain only up to January 2012.

Is there a limit on the period of extension?

Are you in UK on ur WP since June 2007?? then how come HO's letter says
"On this occasion the UK Border Agency has exceptionally decided to grant you a further two years leave to remain which will take your total stay in the United Kingdom beyond five years".
I think you should contact the HO by email and phone.. so that they can fix it if it is a mistake or typo of 02 Jan 2012 instead of 02 JUNE 2012

Question

Post by felixwhoals » Tue Mar 09, 2010 10:27 pm

Hi regarding this thread,

I am currently holding a work permit which will end on the 20th September 2013. (this will mark 5 years of work permit in UK)

I have received an offer from a new employer and they have applied for COS for me and I will apply for Tier 2 General visa this Friday.

I am just wondering, since the maximum duration for Tier 2 General is 3 years, do you think Home Office will issue me a Tier 2 General visa till 20th September 2013 or restricted to 12th March 2013 ?

It's just annoying that I would have to apply for extension for just 6 months before applying for ILR.

There are few cases in the Tier1 where the applicants have requested teh Caseworker thorugh the cover letter to give the Visa validity to cover the ILR period and surprisingly it has been granted accordingly more than 3yrs.. so though it is not Guarantee but worth giving a try..

Does this even apply for Tier 2 General visa? Since I believe Home Offce only grants a maximum of 3 years and based on the duration set in COS?
