ILR

Post by WooHoo » Mon Mar 15, 2010 1:24 pm

Hello!

My wife (Japanese citizen) is going to pay the rip-off £1k for ILR. Once awarded, at some point in the future we might decide to go back to Japan for say 3 years. I understand that she would lose her ILR for the UK. So what would happen when she comes back to the UK? Would she be expected to wait another 2 years on a temporary marriage visa and then pay another rip-off £1k?

Any good advice will be very gratefully received. :)

Unfortunately, she would need to apply for another spouse visa.

It may be better if she/you stayed away from the UK for less than 2 years or greater than 4 years.

Alternatively, consider British citizenship.
