Questions about canada immigration

Hi all,

I have recently started to read about applying for Canada Permanent residence and I have a few questions:

1. With the new change, what are the processing times for permanent residence?
2. Will the spouse have the same employment eligibility as the main applicant?
3. Is there any duration for which the initial PR is given, like say for 3 or 4 years after which it needs to be renewed or something?

You may also want to read up on the process at the CIC website for complete information (http://www.cic.gc.ca/)

1: Depending on where you apply, in London is less than 1 year. Check trackitt.com for timeline from other applicants.

2: If the spouse is on the application, he/she will also get the PR at the same time and will have the same rights as any other PR.

3: PR is valid for 5 years and you have to have resided in Canada for at least 2 of this five years to be able to renew your PR.
