For earnings calculation, we are supposed to use the exchange rate as of the "last day of the earnings period".

In my case, my salary gets credited on the 25th of every month. So should i use the exchange rate as of 25th or as of 31st?

I intend to apply on 6th April under the new rules.

You should use the last date of your EARNINGS Period not when the salary is credited in the bank..
