A Strange Offer .. + implications on HSMP

Post by webhunter » Wed Feb 08, 2006 10:41 am

Hi folks,

Firstly, many thanks to this forum. With out the awareness gained from this forum, I would'nt be even possibly be asking the following question.

My HSMP got approved and I received a job offer. The job offer says you are recruited in Xcountry(not UK) and will be deputed to UK.

Your UK allowance is (X000 pounds per month) and the company will pay the NI+taxes on your behalf. You will receive proper UK payslip at the end of the month.

Now I was worried if this kind of an offer will have any implications when I apply for the 3 year extension , one year from now. Please advice.

As long as you are working in the UK, even if it is on behalf of a company based overseas, it should not be a problem and will count towards your extension and ILR. You are based in the UK and paying taxes here as well so there is nothing wrong with that.

You have to be a bit careful with the term "allowance" as against salary. Some overseas companies do not pay NI and taxes for employees working in the UK in the guise of allowances.
