Query about the new system-important Extension question

Post by immi_nemo » Sat Mar 27, 2010 4:42 am

Hi All,

I got pretty excited that i can apply for Tier 1 visa with just the bachelors degree, i have enough previous earnings to qualify for the Tier 1 visa starting April 6.

I currently live in USA, and it makes no sense if i am gonna have issues 2 yrs after my visa expires. I went thru the table for the conditions to extend the visa after 2yrs.

it says below 30yrs 20 points, and 25k GBP/annum UK experience 5 points, and ofcource your bachelors degree 30 points, thats just 55 points! I am confused! so after 2 yrs, if you end up with 55 points u can't renew?? or will you get 25 points for UK salary of 40-50k GBP??

Anyone thinking of renewal already?or everyone just happy with the new system that you are not worried about 2 yrs down the line?

Trust me ... you brought a very good point.

Recently i have read many T2 visa holders trying to show bonus / part time to get to qualify. But challenge is the same for extention as well ... but i guess for now getting Tier 1 is what most of the people are thinking.

Yes. It looks like everyone is just concerned with Tier1 for now, and NOT about renewal. I have another 4 yrs of my H1, i was just curious with Tier1 since it is a easier way to get a permanent residency. I will probably stick here in US then :)

Hi

yes many people who could not qualify because of their bachelors degree as looking to obtain Tier 1 visa and hope that they will earn sufficient in UK to obtain the points for extension.

UK points base system keeps changing and you might be asked to qualify either on the points you obtained on initial application or asked to full fill the points at the time of your extension.

So you have two options, one think about next 3 years or think about next 10 years and decide.

After 3 years you have to apply for extension if you don't qualify then you have two options either switch to other visa e.g Tier 2 or leave UK

Tipu
