Debt Question

Post by stefanusc » Mon Mar 29, 2010 10:33 pm

hi All,
In about 5 years my husband and I are looking to move to Canada. I can transfer jobs no problem however my question is around debts ...

I'm looking to pay these off with a debt management plan over the next few years - and leave the UK with around £20-30k saved (by the time the DMP is paid off and I start saving what I had previously been paying off debts)
Would this be viewed negatively? Does the immigration authorities do credit checks?

Please no sanctimonious answers revolving around the debt - it was unavoidable and not down to irresponsible spending

Thanks

As long as you have the required funds in the bank at time of application any debts you have are not of interets to CIC.
