Tier 2 ICT to Tier 2 Gen

I am currently on Tier 2 ICT in UK.

If i go back to India and apply for Tier 2 gen and come back to Uk, will the period that I already spent in UK under Tier 2 ICT be not counted towards my 5 year requirement for ILR ?

If going back to India to apply for Tier 2 Gen..will break my 5 years towards ILR, i would be better off applying from withing UK..

Please advice..
