proof of inheritance?

Post by confused.com! » Sun Apr 04, 2010 3:41 pm

Do I need to show proof of my inheritance for my spouse visa application?my father left it for me in his will last year. I wont be providing statements of the day I put it in as it goes a year back and I am only providing 5-6 months worth of statements. Do I need to explain this to the ECO of pakistan in my cover letter or do I need to go to the bank to verify this and include it in my application?

If it is a large amount that you are going to put in your account from your dads inherittance, then it would be wise to explain the reason for it.

The ECO will want to know how the income arrived in your bank account ( even though it will not show in being deposited in the statements that you are going to provide)

I have seen so many people refused who put a large amaount of money into an account just before an application.

Its better to be honest and explain the circumstances as to how you arrived with this money. In being honest you have nothing to loose.

If you have anything as proof it will do no harm, if not then dont worry about it.

Just explain reasons for it

I have a photocopy of a cheque of the inheritance going into my account and i still have a copy of my fathers will explaining how everything would be divided. Shall I include this or is it really unneccessary for that. I am going to include a copy of my father's death certificate and papers from directgov.uk as I was his carer before I got married. Will this all be self explanatory to them?
