Family Visitors Medical examination/insurance

Post by aartis » Thu Apr 15, 2010 6:35 am

I have a Tier1(General) Visa and I got my parents' family visitor visa last week. They are scheduled to travel to UK by end of this month.

They will stay in UK with me for 2 months.

Do they need to undergo any medical examination before travelling?
Also, do I need to get their medical or travel insurance done?

Please advise.

Thanks

No!

Yes! Of course! No one should travel internationally as a visitor without having adequate travel insurance. And that includes insurance against medical costs, given their limited ability to use the NHS while they are here are visitors.

Suggest the travel insurance be bought as soon as possible, given the cancellation part of that is worthwhile now, in case something stops them travelling.

Many Thanks Jhon for your response.

They dont have to undergo any medical examination.

I do agree with John, they should get the insurance in their country before heading off. Not sure, but I dont think you will be able to take insurance for them in the UK since the insurance companies only do it for UK residents and not visitors.
