Information of COA for marriage

Post by gill9966 » Fri Apr 23, 2010 1:01 am

Hi,

I came to uk as a student and i still have a year left to study here, I applied for the COA and its been more then 2 months.

For some reasons, I think this relationship will end up during the processing of COA Appliction, So what will happen if i want to end up all this and how to end up all this. Can i still be aligible for my student visa or what will happen.

A very depressing situation for me right now also effecting my social life, please give me a sincere advice for all this. I am waiting for your replies, Thank you.

Regards.

Erm - not sure I really understood all that:
I think this relationship will end up during the processing of COA Appliction
I presume you mean your relationship will end. Doesn't sound like a solid basis for marriage right now then ...
Can i still be aligible for my student visa
Providing you are still meeting the criteria for a student visa - I don't see why not - a COA doesn't change your visa status.

Can you provide more details please?

What nationality are you?
What nationality is your partner?
When did you arrive?
Where are you studying?
Why are you worried about your student visa?
When does your student visa expire?

Thank you for your reply,

I submitted a COA for marriage through the post two months ago and during this period for some reasons the relationship with my partner was not going well. So i was thinking what if she deny during or after approval of the marriage that she dont want to get married, What will happened to that COA and will it change my student status.

So actually my question is if she is not willing to marry after approval of marriage what will happen, how much it will effect my student visa and can i submit another COA for marriage with another girl? Its a quite complex situation.

Here are the asnwers for your questions.

What nationality are you?
Pakistan

What nationality is your partner?
British

When did you arrive?
September 2009

Where are you studying?
MSc

Why are you worried about your student visa?
Will COA change my student status and what if i leave this degree.

When does your student visa expire?
Approx. after 9 months.

Ok - so I'm now a little uncomfortable responding because of this:
can i submit another COA for marriage with another girl? Its a quite complex situation.
Which suggests that you aren't doing this to spend your life with someone - if you were it wouldn't be so much about getting that COA.

I am going to respond on the technical aspects of this and this is going to be my last response here.

Nothing. The COA will lapse.
how much it will effect my student visa
A COA will not affect your student visa.
can i submit another COA for marriage with another girl
Yes - but it's liable to be looked at very closely as you already had one submitted recently and the timeline for getting it could be very extended.
what if i leave this degree
Then your student visa isn't valid and you should leave the country.

I want to but what if that someone is denying after some time and i think without COA, we can not marry in uk. So that is why i was asking that what if i will apply for another COA.

Thank you for your replies.

So you don't yet have another girl lined up? That's the implication I took from your original post and hence why I was uncomfortable.

If this is purely about "what if I meet another girl" - then the answer should be, providing you haven't utilised the original COA - then it should make no difference as there are reasons why it wasn't used.

However, I would expect your second COA to take far more time than the original, and given the timeframes involved I would expect that, given the time it would take to break up, meet someone new, apply for the COA and have it approved, that your student visa would have expired and you'd have to either return to Pakistan to apply for a fiancee visa or try and switch in country to Tier 1 or 2 before the expiration of the visa.

You dont need to worry COA is just approval for marriage and its valid for one year from the date of approval. Its nothing to do whether you marry or not . You can continue with your student visa but if in future you decided to marry somebody else on student visa you have to apply again for COA. Currently COA application approval time is 4-5 months because its non charged application. In the mean time if you want your passport back for urgent travel purpose you can request to home office.
