Hospitality companies - Work Permit

Post by madhurkashyap » Sat Apr 24, 2010 4:33 pm

Hi,

Is anybody aware of any Hospitality companies or Hotels giving work permits and in what roles. I am on a PSW which still has 23 months remaining (I just got the visa on 31st March 2010).

I am asking this because I know I will not be able to get an HSMP after my PSW expires due to the salary slab (which I think at present is £24,000 per annum) as I have just started working at entry level (even after a Master's Degree, that's how it is with Hospitality Industry).

So people any ideas about any hotels or travel companies giving work permits to their employees (so that I start searching and applying for a job there )?

Thanks.

Such companies do not give work permits .... they apply for them. But think about it, what sort of role would such companies have that could not be filled by a British or EEA citizen?

'Specialist' Chefs in Indian restaurants, kebab shops. Honestly I've seen it. When I lived in Scotland my local kebab shop had different Turk/Kurd/Iraqi blokes appearing all the time, blatant visa abuse but no proof...

Being a gregarious type of bloke I would speak to them, find out all sorts.....

I wish GB would appoint me as dodgy visa Tsar, I'd be ok!

Gone are the days :( ...if you have culinary skills then I would suggest to look for job opportunities in canada where demand still exists...there are few reputed consultancies who would help you in the same...

Gordon Brown is making quite an issue of the fact that chefs from outside the EEA will no longer be granted Tier 2 visas, as from some time next year.

Well that's good news, I can make a curry ten times better than 99% of takeaways/Indians, that's a definite abuse of visas blocked.
