Need help with filling the Spouse Sattlement VAF4A form

Post by z4ydi » Wed Apr 28, 2010 10:14 pm

I am a 38 years old British and my wife is 26 years old Pakistani. We got married in January 2010, we are also maternal cousines.

1. Question 5.12 states "do you have savings, property...." My wife has around £4000 worth of gold should we state it or it does not help the application.

2. Question 8.4.2 states "When did you first meet your sponsor" - since we are cousins we knew and met each other since childhood. What date should I put in the boxes. I thought I will just guess/enter 20/01/1990 meaning we met when my wife was 5 years old. Or should I put the date when I went to Pakistan to get married to her 20/01/2010?

3. Question 8.4.10 states "are you and your sponsor related outside marriage" - our actual relationship is: (My mother’s mother and my sponsor's father’s mother are sisters from the same parents) - should I state exactly that or should I just say We are maternal cousines.

4. Section 10 of the form states "have you used an agent or a representative to fill this application" - Since I completed the application for her can I be her representative or does it have to be a qualified individual.

5. this question is not about a form it about the security of documentation - I was divorced and I got my over sea's divorce certificate, should I send the original or attested copy, if they lose it would be very difficult if not impossible for me to get a duplicate. on the other hand if i send an attested copy I am worried whether this will cause my wife's application to fail.

Please help me with the above ASAP

No- No need to state this as gold bangles are not termed as savings

2. Question 8.4.2 states "When did you first meet your sponsor" - since we are cousins we knew and met each other since childhood. What date should I put in the boxes. Usually its the date that you were either engaged where you will have seen each other, if that is not the case then its normally a few days after your arrival in Pakistan

3. Question 8.4.10 states "are you and your sponsor related outside marriage" - our actual relationship is: (My mother’s mother and my sponsor's father’s mother are sisters from the same parents) - should I state exactly that or should I just say We are maternal cousines.

Just put down maternal cousins

4. Section 10 of the form states "have you used an agent or a representative to fill this application" - Since I completed the application for her can I be her representative or does it have to be a qualified individual.

Put down NO

5. this question is not about a form it about the security of documentation - I was divorced and I got my over sea's divorce certificate, should I send the original or attested copy, if they lose it would be very difficult if not impossible for me to get a duplicate. on the other hand if i send an attested copy I am worried whether this will cause my wife's application to fail.

It has to be the original document with an English translated version if it is not in English. If it was a UK divorce, then it has to be the Decree Absoloute

Please help me with the above ASAP
In future if you post in the Spousal application from Pakistan, you will get better and quicker response as those people are in the same boat as you

Hoe that helps. Also read the article that I wrote by following the link below my name here. It will explain everything to you.

Thanks for the response much, much appriciated.
I have included this line in the letter "My x- wife has the custody of my children, I send regular payments of £150/month for my children’s maintenance through xxxx Money Transfer LTD." The problem is I have not kept the receipts, I will try the firm and see if they can issue it for me, if not can I only state it in the letter but not include any recepts.
2. the second question is that my net income is around £2200/month and this amount is regularly coming to my account from my employer, ofcourse shows up on my bank statements. I have been helping friends and family here and there before my marriage January/2010, hence I have no savings. I have been watching my expendature since marriage. as a result on my 4 mmonths statments it shows £500 - £800 withdrawn which i used give to friends and family - purely help, do they in any way raise questions. also not having much of saving specially with a decent salary that I have. Or they just look at the salary coming in regularly etc.

There is no requirement for you to show this, but if you want to do then that is your own buusiness

Savings are important part of a spouse applications. Some sort of savings ( around £2500) would help to show that you have money left over to save. You may well have a salary of £2200 pm net, but where is it all going?. If its all going even before your wife joins, then how do you intend to support her when she is here?

Thanks again for the great help that you are giving me.
As I said I got married in February this year and I have withdrawn around £3000. Today I have about £2900 in my account that is because my salary was credited to my account today 30th of the month and the bank statement will be printed today too which will show £2900 as the last figure on the statement hope this will be ok.
One final question (hopefully). I done a propery survey using an Estate agent who charged me £50 in his letter the main points he stated are that he visited the property, there are 2 male adult currently living in 2 bedroom flat self containded (number of rooms, Spam, living room), and it is habitable and wont be over crowded but he did not state any measurements of the rooms etc, is this suffecient.

Thanks

Yes £3k should be enough.

The housing report may well be accepted, but it is better to have measurements and photo of property ( just like the leaflets EA do when they sell your house which has photo and measurements on)

If your grandparents are sisters, then you are Second Cousins.

Thank you once again for the reply. I have another 4 question.

in question 3.1 - states "Your full residential address and postal code". I have put my actual address in here; but we are mostly out and about and I wanted to put my cousine's Pharmacy address in Question 3.6 - which states "Contact details if different from those given in question 3.1".
My question is can I put a business address i.e Pharmacy in 3.6 or does it have to be residintia/Home address?

2. I have put all the necessary supporting documentation and the VAF4 form etc in clear glas folders my question is: can I put these glass folder in to a light weight ring binder, so that they are kept tidy or there is a special requirement on how to submit the docs.

3. I have downloaded the VAF4A form from the UKBA website printed it colour, and then photocopied it in a way to constract an A4 booklet (black and white), is this ok or does the form have to be in colour. or is it a must to obtain the form from the FedEx office in Pakistan.

4. I have photcopied my passport in a normal A4 papers in UK and then attested it by a solicitor. Is there a special requirement on paper quality or not.

Will be grateful if you could answer them.

It must be residential address where you live

You cant put them in a binder. Staple them altogether

No this will do

No any paper will do

Will be grateful if you could answer them.
