You can't claim previous earnings points for anything under £20,000 at the momentmyfuente wrote:Hi All - I need help in determining whether I can claim the previous earnings points. I am under the HSMP (Post-study work visa) at the moment and will be applying to the HSMP (General visa) in September.
Over the past year I have been making a gross salary of £18500 from Jan. 2009 to Feb. 2010. I have just received a raise to £20000 in Feb 2010. When I input this information into the points calculator I have enough points but when I put in the band of earnings as what most of the year was (£18,500) I don't have enough points. Sorry if that's confusing. Please help
What should I go with?!!!
Many thanks,

It wont make a difference to minimum salary that you have been on the PSW visa. It is not based on what your current salary is (after your pay rise in February), it is what you have earned in the last year up to when you submit your application. So the fact that you are on £20,000 now doesnt change the fact that you only earned £18,500 in the last 12 months. You must add up your last 12 months of payslips immediately prior to submitting your application (I think you can use any 12 months from the previous 15 months) and this must come to £20,000.myfuente wrote:To PKumar -
I am inquiring whether it makes any difference that I am switching from a PSW visa to the Tier 1 in terms of minimum salary over the last 12 months. If the minimum salary is set at £25,000 even if I am switching from a PSW to Tier 1 then I am assuming my application will be unsuccessful but if the minimum salary, in my case, is £20,000 then I will be successful.
Please help with this question. That is where I am confused.
Thanks,
