Applying Tier 2 when I have a valid business visa

Post by s4salil » Thu May 06, 2010 6:07 pm

Hi all,

I already have a valid UK business visa. Now my company has decided to send me to the uk for a longer term and they want me to apply for the Tier 2 ICT visa.

Do I need to cancel my business visa ??? Or can I apply directly without any cancellation etc ?
Will this existing visa have an impact on the Tier2 application or even Tier 1 for that matter?

Please revert

Why do you think you had to "write" an explanation?

The link that you sent ( thanks for that) states "An applicant may hold more than one valid entry clearance, for example a regular traveller already holding a longer period multiple visit visa can be issued with a visa for another purpose. When issuing a second visa, the applicant should be advised to explain to the Immigration Officer on arrival in which capacity he/she is seeking entry to the UK."

I havent written any explaination !

Read *carefully*! Nowhere does it state that you need to write an explanation.

"Applicant is advised to explain to immigration officer" ... I thought i need to explain in the 2nd visa application

BTW, can a business visa be cancelled by the employer?

Immigration officer = officer at the immigration control desk at the landing airport. :D

If the "business" visa you are referring to is a "business visit visa", then the employer cannot ask it to be revoked in the way that an employer can get the same done for a Tier 2 / WP visa.
