LTR for spouse

Post by dublintogalway » Thu May 13, 2010 7:43 pm

Hi Guys,

I have applied for LTR on the basis of 5 years residence on working visa(stamp4), and my spouse is living with me on dependent visa( stamp3). She will be completing 5 years soon in the Ireland. I have two questions related to LTR application for spouse:-

1. Should I apply separate application for the LTR for my spouse after completing 5 years?
2. Should I wait for the approval of my LTR, then I can get my spouse passport stamped on the basis of dependent visa? This option 2 looks cheaper to me other wise I would have to pay 500+500=1000 for LTR for my spouse and my self.
I was reading INIS web site, and it states that dependents are not exempted from employment permit requirement after getting LTR, so what's the point in applying separate LTR application for my spouse..

Please help in this query..

the only difference in those two cases is that if your spouse is granted LTR as a dependant, she will get stamp 3 for 5 years, no need to pay for LTR for her as dependants are free. gnib fee once off 150e for the duration of 5 years
if you get LTR and take your wife to gnib, she will be getting stamp 3 every year for a year... that's 150e each time...
your spouse can apply as soon as she has 5 years, unless there was any change.

Hi,

I was reading the below link for LTR from INIS web site:-
http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Pages/Lo ... _Residency

but it is not mentioned here that dependents are exempted from LTR fee, if they apply for LTR separately.

If, i will get 5 years stamp on my passport after successful LTR application, then why dependent spouse is given 1 year stamp only.. I thought dependent spouse will also get 5 years stamp. I am confused now.

I will appreciate input from other guys as well.. please clarify

only if a dependant spouse applies for LTR, they are entitled to a 5 year stamp 3. if they continue getting a simple dependancy stamp, it should be renewed annually.
i re-read the whole part about the the fees, and really it does not state about the fee for the dependants. when the fee was originally introduced in september 2009 it was free for the dependants. i am not aware whether that was changed since then. you can confirm that with the LTR helpline (if they are back on the phones)
