Fees not yet deducted

Post by jig4242 » Mon May 17, 2010 1:56 pm

Hi,

I applied for Tier 1 General and as per Royalmail tracker my file was received on 7th April. But the Visa fees has not been deducted yet from my account. I written cheque instead of debit card details. I heard cheques are always better than debit card. :(

It has been more than 5 weeks, can you please advise what to do. I am very much depressed. I called up Croydon number, they said need to wait till 14 weeks. I did double check the address I sent and everything...

Is there anyone experienced good/bad while paying the fees by cheque.

I will highly appreciate.

Thanks,

Jigs

Generally speaking, postal orders and debit cards are usually better and faster.Cheques normally take about 6 working days to clear unlike debit cards and postal orders that clear immediately.

5 weeks is a very long time so you should have received an acknowledgement by now.And unfortunately, the call centre in Croydon are scripted so can't count on them to give you any info because they always read off the same sheet. I believe the 14 week rule should ONLY apply to those who have received an acknowledgement and are waiting for a decision on their application. Your case is totally different.

I'd suggest you either email or write them to seek for clarification about your application. It's a difficult one,but don't despair pal.
