Potential Finance Issues

Post by seanaroundtheworld » Fri May 21, 2010 7:14 pm

I'm a UK citizen married to a US citizen currently getting all our paperwork together to proceed with our marriage visa application. The only area where I have any concern is with finance. Specifically my personal bank statements.

I had two jobs and I was recently (Jan) made redundant from my day job leaving only my night work from which I get around £60 per week. I've also had a lot of time off due to travelling to and from the states to see my wife and so my bank balance has been consistently in the red by around £400. My overdraft limit being £600. That is until this month, which will be my most recently statement which will be up by £300.

I am also including both a letter of employment from my night work and a letter of employment from a full time day job that I will be starting in the coming weeks on a 6 month contract. I claim no benifits.

I know that if this was the only means of support the application would most likely be rejected. However my wife will have a few thousand saved in bulk for the journey and my parents with whom we will be living (it is a family home and we will be living together for the foreseeable future) have written a letter explaining that my wife will never be responsible for rent, any household bills or food during her entire stay and will be supported in any other way necessary. Along with this they have included their personal bank statements and P60 showing yearly earnings leaving a few thousand in the bank every month.

My mother has also included a job offer contingent on her acceptance offering her 30 hours per week work which she is able to begin as soon as she arrives.

From your experiences, what do you think our chances are on getting through the finance section of the application?

Also, do these bank statements need to be sent in full or only the front page detailing money in and money out?

Thanks for any help or advice anyone can provide.

Not looking good I am afraid.Questions will be asked why you have two jobs and can still not save some money. Furthermore sending your parents bank statements as part of the application does not help,as it shows you are relying on your parents to help you out.You need to prove you can maintain, support and accommodate your spouse without recourse to public funds or reliant wholly on family support.

If this application was made anywherein a 3rd world country it will automatically refused, however as it is in teh US, there is apossibility they might grant it if you an show you have £11o per week coming in as that is the basic a couple need to live on

Yes they have to be full statements showing incoming and outgoings along with the holders name and address on the statement

She would not be wholly supported by the family. As once starting the second job I would personally have over £200 a week coming in and she would have a couple of thousand in savings. Is it enough to show that this money has started coming in or does it have to of been coming in consistently for the previous three months? Also, the main point with the parents is that she will have no expenses and neither do I. There is no rent or bills of any kind which makes our living costs £0 per week.

Do you know how much she would have to have saved to bring with her for her to be accepted on her own funds alone?

Also does the job offer made to her of more than £150 per week not automatically suggest that her available funds are greater than the minimum you stated?

Thanks for the help so far.

I also do not have two jobs and can't save money. My second job will not begin for the next couple of weeks. Plus I have just cashed £3,500 worth of income bonds and placed them into my account in preperation for her arrival so I did have savings that I'd left for a rainy day.

Also, is this of any relevance: http://freemovement.wordpress.com/2009/ ... y-support/

Again I really appreciate your help. Anything I can do to make this happen I'm willing to.
