The reason for your refusal is Dishonesty in relation to public funds. Did you provide your explanation in covering letter when applied? The waiting period is 5 years for the community sentence under the Rehabilatation Act 1974. Probably you need to wait for 5 years from the date of sentence. I am not sure, someone expert may answer your question.

Did you declare your conviction when you applied for BC?
or Did UKBA found out without you telling them about it?

Your sentence will be spent 5 years from the date of conviction. Have you checked if they have barred you from applying for next 10 years?

Thats good then. Make sure that this time you do not apply before your sentence is spent. I said 2012, because I thought you got convicted in court in 2007. But probably you got convicted sometimes in 2008. Just make sure you do not apply until 5 years after the date of conviction.
God, cant believe they find out everything, lol.

1) Did you say that a day after they took the money they wrote you a letter of refusal??
If so they must have done their checks real quick.
2) Did you request the refund then??...or did they put it back into the account automatically and did the date of refund coincide with the refusal date.
I think it will be interesting to know the above

I will give you a reply until OP replies to your query.
First thing done on application (after taking the payment) is various checks including PNC. PNC check takes them one second to do. Just click the mouse and its done.
Within the application fees there are two components. So the current fees of £ 735 includes 80 pounds for ceremoney and the rest is UKBA fees. If your application is refused you get your 80 pounds back.

Thanks. What i was wondering was the following scenario:
Having called UKBA and being told that a decision has been made and that you would receive the letter via post wihin a week or two, do you think that they would refund the £80 very soon after a refusal? Its really more a question of when does one get their refund.
If the above is the case one can check their bank statement to know whether they have been approved or rejected in the time leading up to when they receive their letter.
Ofcourse if the refund occurs at a much latter date, the logic falls apart

Well, I do not agree that human brain should be used to ponder over some un-necessary illogical thinking and do un-necessary research on something which doesnt matter. If they have made a decision then they have made a decision. If you get the letter today or you get the letter after one month doesnt make a difference. If you have been granted then you have been granted, if you have been refused then you have been refused.
