Confusion in new form for tier 1

Post by muditmalhotra » Mon May 24, 2010 6:43 pm

Hi All
there is some confusion in new form
it says "Indicate your method of postgraduate degree verification Put a cross (x) in the relevant box"
why only post graduation, if someone is applying claiming graduation degree what should he write in this section, or should he leave it blank

i think this can be a simple error that they forgot to remove this pg thing..
any views on this ?

Please guide, my friend is applying this week using graduation.
Thanks

skip section 3.2 and move to 3.3 in which you select the bachelor's degree.

This is what I did.

I initially thought it was a mis-print in the form as the question is actually applicable even to folks who are graduate and applying for Tier1, so not sure if leaving the option is a correct thing to do..

@adityak77 - Did you get your Visa even on leaving out this option?

Other members can you please throw some light on this.

No I applied just yesterday.

How can that option be applicable to graduates? It clearly says postgraduates.

I don't think skipping that option is wrong. Others may well comment on it.

What I meant was - the question is applicable for folks who are claiming points for Qualification.. As per the guidelines, they need to indicate a method of degree verification.
However, in the form it asks that for just postgraduates, and not for those who are claiming qualification points for graduation.

This is why i think there is a typo in appendix1 as prior- to april 2010 there were no points for graduates. so only post graduates were claiming Qualification points.. but starting April 2010 they are allowing 30 points for Graduation degree.. There is no specific section in appendix to indicate method of degree verification..

Lets see what other people think..
Maybe someone who has successfully applied after 6th April would be able to help.

Hi,

I applied on 14-May-2010 and i had the same confusion but after alot of discussion on this excellent forum and with some friends who got the UK Tier 1 recently, i decided not to leave this section empty and ticked the PBS check box in that section.

The reason is if you look at it from another angle then postgraduate is only pssoible after graduation. so in a way it covers both ur graduation degree and postgraduation degree... and If ur university exist on PBS calculator then you will mark that checkbox and attach the PDF printout of your self assessment on PBS calculator provided online.

Thats wat i did and wat my friends with successful Tier 1 visas suggested me and thats wat i got as an input/suggestions from this excellent Forum. see the link of the thread that i consulted on this Forum

Fill in 3.1 to 3.4 for your graduate degree but strike of the word "post" in 3.2. I did the same thing for my visa application. I had no problems and got the visa last week.

will it create a problem in my case as I skipped section 3.2 and moved to 3.3 where I selected my bachelor's degree.

Keeping fingers crossed!
