HSMP eligibility after unemployment

Post by Tushar » Sat May 29, 2010 8:23 pm

I am trying to figure out my eligibility to obtain the HSMP visa. Here is my profile.

I am 28 years old with a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from USA. I worked for 3 years in USA with a salary of $ 70 k. I have the required funding in my bank account.

I am unemployed since Feb 2, 2010. So basically in the past 12 months, I have been salaried only for 8 months. I have tax returns for 2009 that show my salary for 2009 as $ 70k.

My question is whether I can mention that salary as my earning power or do I need to use (70 * 8/12) as the salary?

My points excluding earning power:
Age - 20 points
Qualifications - 35 points
English skills - 10 points
Maintenance skills - 10 points

Thanks,
- Tushar.

Use the point based calculator on UKBA website.
for earnings you can use maximum of 12 months earning within 15 months before the date of your application.
you have to prove that you have earned the money, not that it's your earning power
Goodluck.

Thanks for the reply. So if I am applying in June 2010, can I write the total of my income from March 2009 to Feb 2010? The points with that come to 80. However if I add from June 2009 to May 2010, I do not qualify.

Thanks,
- Tushar.

claiming period should be within the last 15 months from the date you apply. Also it should be a consecutive earnining period of 12 months or less...Good luck!!

Hi

First select the 15 month period .... if you apply in June 2010 than ...

15 month period : March 2009 to May 2010

Now select 12 consecutive months or less in between these limits

Good luck!
Thanks

Ali
