Proof of funds Requirements.

Post by smshoaibs » Mon May 31, 2010 7:27 am

At which stage I will be required to show that I have enough funds in my account? What are the requirements? I read that I should have at least CAD $11086. In my accounts but.....

1. Should I have CAD 11,086 in my account at the time of application or I can show the amount in later dates?
2. How long the money should stay in my account?
3. Can I show statements from multiple accounts (in different/same countries) ?

Amount of funds you need to show depends on the number of people on the application. The amount requirements are at:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/ ... /funds.asp

1; No, they can be in any currency, but they must convert to the required funds in CAD. Exchange rate differences may affect this.

2: At least six months

3: Yes

My first question was about when should I have this amount in bank?

The day when I am applying for immigration?
6 months before the day I am applying for immigration?

How CIC evaluate this?

six months before they ask for proof of funds (in the second stage). Since you dont know when that would be, its hard to tell. The longer the money is in your account, the better.

If you dont already have the required money, you may want to put it in now.

At least 6 months from before the date that your documents are being considered by the Canadian Embassy. To be on the safe side, just put it in your account before the start of the whole process..

Ray,

From what i gathered, what the visa processing officers wants to see is the closing balance in your account statement not how long it has been sitting there. I have frds that have had their application approved with funds sitting in their account for only 1 month.

A lot depends on where you are applying from. CIC have additional requirements for some countries. For example, if you reside in the UK, CHC is less restrictive than other countries. You would want to check country specific instructions for your country.

In the UK most recent bank statement is accepted, while in some other countries, six months is required. If you don’t know what is required in your country, six months is a safe bet. But, the best thing to do is check the country specific instructions for the country you are applying from.
