Got a job offer...waiting for another one ... Pls advice

Post by AshwathCR » Sat May 01, 2010 8:05 pm

Hello,

The job consultant who processed my CV has informed me that employer has offered me a job verbally. Since this is a long weekend & HR is on leave, the actual offer would be processed by this coming Friday.
She called me up yesterday and I said 'YES' to the offer and have already accepted the offer verbally on phone.

Meanwhile, for another job, I have finished 2 rounds of tech interviews and am very confident of getting this job too. But, this one could take a while ... by this weekend or early next week.

Problem is that I like the second job very much.
Now, please advice me how to handle the situation.
Should I accept the first offer and decline it later, once I get the second one? So that I am safe even if I donot get the second one.
Is this going to cause any issues?

Or is there any safe way to handle this situation. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance ...

Please note that I am only worried about the consequences with the job consultants as I am on Tier-1 Visa.

As long as you haven't signed on anything, you can always say that your circumstances have changed and that you cannot take it up due to personal reasons. You are not legally bound unless you sign a contract.
