Can I Do Course Now and Send Certificate after I get File #

Post by aqilzeeshan » Wed Dec 14, 2005 1:15 pm

i have

+ 16 Years of Full time Education ( 20 Points)
+ 7 Band in Speaking, Reading and Writing and 6.5 Band in Listening
(14 Points)
+ 29 Years of Age ( 10 Points )
+ 5 Years of Experience ( 21 Points )
========================
Total : 65 Points

I send my case with all the necesary docs one week back thinking that i get 22 points for 16 Years of Full time Education. Now from these forums i came to know that i will get 20 points and dont qualify. I mentioned None in my french profiency in application form.

can i send do a basic french reading course now which can give me 2 points required to qualify and send the certificate once my course is finished after a month.

Should i send certificate of basic french reading once i get file # so that when my case is processed they have basic french language proficiecy certifate with them and they dont disqualify me ?

Depending on your visa post you may have enough time to sit the mandatory French test to claim linguistic points - CIC do not accept so called certificates of proficiency only defnitive scores from the standard test. IIRC test is called TEF (type in search engine) - compare this with CIC language matrix to see points needed. I wouldn't risk it getting to initial paper screening stage. Note that depending on various conditions e.g. your aptitude for languages, practice time etc learning French to the level required to pass the TEF test may take several months. Good luck.

Your application will be refused at the stage of first review. From which visa post did you apply?Thats important because time factor varies.I suggest you join french classes and learn upto the level of Basic.Write a small write up claiming points for basic lavel. This is subjective and it depends on the visa officer what points to be given.Simultaneously also try IELTS again , I am sure with this result you can easily score 7 in listening.

I am currently in Saudi Arabia, applications from this county can be filed to London Immigration Post.

Do you have any idea how much time i have Before the initial screening take place and they disqualify me to either take french test and send results for french language test TEF or retake ILETS (but that is very risky coz what if i get 7 in listening and get 6.5 in any one) or send a subject description of french profeciency leaving the decision on immigration officer ?

Well you had sent papers one week back to London office without sufficient points so damage has been already done.

So now we can only go for some damage control measures.

Now to be on the safe side you can take at least 3/4 months to learn french language and then send a "hyped up" (without certificates) hand written write up claiming 2 points (basics in reading and writing).Dont claim for Listening otherwise visa officer will start straightaway questioning in French language. This he may even do telephoniclly to confirm it(listening part).Continue learning french further and mention in this write up about it. Meanwhile ,say after 7/8 months,if you do not hear anyhting from them then forward another improved upgraded french write up (this time with certificates) .
This will benefit you because straightaway your application will not be refused (at the time of first review) because as per OP manual he is suppose to give you some time (for TEF) incase there is no clarity as far as language is concerned. Here he is NOT clear because you have given "inconclusive write up".He will find it difficult to assess it so requirement of TEF. Now if he has asked for TEF then you have a choice either to write TEF or forward all the documents pertaining to French language along with a write up assuming that you furhter continued with ur studies after second write up also.
Tedious task, I know, but this trick has worked earlier on many occasions.
But had I been in your place I would have gone for ielts exam again after joining a month long coaching class(listening only)

Please note the above is "damage control measure"

Assuming that you do all the above and get 67 points. What if the pass mark meanwhile increases from 68 to 69.You are no where.Application will be refused.
Touch and go.

calm down brother...u still have time....take IELTS tuitions from an expert...improve your score and then send your new score claiming that your skills inenglish have improved.....
Also immigration officers have discreation to give upto 5 points....some of my friends got it....even though they had <67 points......
As to rely's reply do not worry your passing marks will be 67....as they were 67 when you applied....
take a letter from a good french professor in your country stating that you have good french skills....
