SETTLEMENT PROBLEMS.

Post by kirstenb » Sat Mar 11, 2006 2:18 pm

Hi there,

I would really appreciate some advice on the application for a settlement visa for my husband in Ghana.

We have recently got married in Ghana and I have just returned back to the Uk after one year spent in Ghana. This is because I am two months pregnant with our first child.

From the research I have done this is going to present us with some problems. Firstly, I have just started a new job, therefore no history of pay slips. My UK bank account has also been inactive for a year, so no bank statements to prove funding. Ideally we could delay the application for some six months whilst I gather this documentation. But, the current call up time for interview in Ghana is 2-3 months and obviously because I am pregnant he needs to be here asap.

Any advice on how to get round these problems would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks.

Kirsten, congratulations on the marriage ... and the pregnancy. Rather good "evidence of contact"!

As the spouse you will be your husband's sponsor. But are any other family member ... for example your parents .... prepared to act as additional sponsor?

Or put it another way, after a year abroad, where are you living? In your own place? Or temporarily back with parents? If so, and assuming the place is big enough, them acting as additional sponsors could assist greatly.

Hi John,

Thankyou very much for your reply.

I am renting a room in my friend's apartment. I guess my Parents could still act as additional sponsors in this situation? What documentation would they need to provide to fulfill this role?

Kirsten.
