Hi,
You don't need to show 1.5 times if you have the right amount funds for the right period of time. If you want to be doubly safe- yes you could ; again you don't need to. All you need to ensure is the balance(required) shouldn't dip even for one day.
Spouse funds are not mentioned anywhere on Home office website.
If you want to show wife sponsoring you; you will need to have authority letter from her stating her willingness to sponsor for study/ living expenses as the case maybe ; along with your marriage certificate.
Also this option hasn't worked out in case of one of my close friend so i am scared to vote for it.. If this is your only option pls consult an expert
It's best if you show your parent(s)[main applicant's parent(s)] are sponsoring and submit a birth certificate whilst applying. This clause is explicitly mentioned on the website. So, if you have the time why not transfer funds into parents account and show that as a proof of funds to get hassle free.
Lastly, if your spouse is going to join you within 2-4 months; i suggest you apply for visa for both of you. I say this because you will end up maintaining /blocking funds twice for the similar purpose which is not wise considering you will be a student who can work only part time.
Moreover once the entire application process is over ; you have a visa you could travel, settle down and then your spouse can travel at a later date.
