Hi, I am on Tier1 in UK(valid until 2012). My partner(In India) is applying for CP Visit Visa mid of July and usually processing time for this visa in home country 4 to 10 weeks.
My concern is that if I follow what the Home Office says then my partner must first come to the UK with his CP VV and then submit his passport with my COA and potentially wait up to 70 days (and some applications have taken longer than this) before we get it back. This he can’t do because of his work commitments and I only want him to travel once I have the COA. Understandably I don’t want him to have to make repeated trips back and forth to India.
Wondering :-
A)if can/should apply for my COA now along with his certified copy(I hope this can come in postal)
B) Wait until his visa has come
C) Let him apply and get acknowledgement from British High Commission in India and I attach that acknowledgement letter.
I read the COA form and it says :-
2.12 If he or she lives outside the UK and is subject to immigration control, is he or she obtaining a fiancé(e) or proposed civil partner visa? See Note 2
Note 2 Please note that before you can be issued with a certificate of approval, we will need to see your fiancé(e) or proposed civil partner’s passport. You should therefore arrange for it to be sent to our Croydon address (see part 12 of the guidance notes) as soon as possible after their arrival in the UK with a fiancé(e) or proposed civil partner visa.
Further Page 7 of COA says :-
A notarised copy of your fiancé(e) or proposed civil partner’s passport, travel document or European ID card if he or she is a British citizen or EEA national and has to travel outside the UK at the time you submit your application and you are unable to supply the original document.
Hence can you please advise the most sensible option?I called up home office and they said Original passport is must however if i mention our case clearly then its at discretion of the case worker.
Finally, how about this? I apply for COA now with clear explaination and if they come then back then I respond that I should be able to send the passport once my partner comes to UK. Will this impact my COA application? Not sure if this will make life easier or difficult.
Thanks for your help
