Switching from Tier 2 to Tier 1 and impact on PR application

Post by Tracy666 » Sun Jul 04, 2010 3:45 am

Hi

I have been on a Tier 2 visa for the past four years and have just successfully applied for a Tier 1 visa to work under self-employment in the UK.

I am planning to work for another year as an entrepreneur before applying for the permanent residence ('indefinite leave to remain') status.

Will the change to a Tier 1 visa affect my eligibility to apply for PR i.e. four years under Tier 2 plus one year under Tier 1?

Thanks.

Did you apply for, and been granted, Tier 1 (Enterpreneur) leave to remain or Tier 1 (General)? Leave to remain under Tier 1 (enterpreneur) is different from leave to remain under Tier 1 (General) that allows you to be self-employed (e.g. - enterpreneur)!

Assuming Tier 1 (General):

No. You will be eligible for ILR after completing 5 years in UK, provided you become eligible for it before the earned citizenship rules come in force.
