accomodation requirement for extension after 12 months stay

Post by tjjs1990 » Sun Mar 05, 2006 10:32 am

Hi all,
Can anyone tell me if i stay with my relatives throughout the 12 months in Uk and then apply for extension for another 3 years showing all the income ( presently I earn over 20000 per annum) in my application , wether the application will be approved or I have to show them my own accomodation for the extension?
Pl reply as I do stay with my relatives and so no utility bills are in my name.

You dont need to show your own accomodation for HSMP extension. You need to prove that you are financially active and working which you are.

You don't have to own an accomodation you can certainly rent one (provided that you have the necessary funds). All in all you must remember that you have to satisfy the "able to maintain and accomodate both himself and dependents without recourse to public funds" requirement.

Hi All,
Thank you for the reply . Now I understand that no need to show of my own or rented accomodation for extension after 12 months when I apply for FLR but to show that your earning in the particular field you applly.

Is it necessary , as per new Laws that going to be effective soon, for people who less than 12 months in UK , to apply now to make it the validity for another one year or we have to wait for 19 months of staying in uk and then apply to get the flr for 4 yrs instead of 3 yrs
Thanks in advane for the reply to all

You will need to apply atleast 4 weeks before the expiry of your current visa regardless of the change in law. The proposed changed will give 2 years initially and then a 3 year extension. It is still uncertain if the HO will grant 3 or 4 year extensions to those applicants who have an inital 1 year stamp on their visa. We will know more once they have started processing applications after April 3rd when the changes come into effect.
