English language proof - Duplicate degree certificate

My Bachelors in Engineering degree is recognized in the points based calculator as a valid proof of English language and awards me 10 points. However, my original degree certificate had got misplaced a few years back and I now have a duplicate degree certificate issued by my university.

The duplicate degree certificate is exactly like the original with seal ofthe university and signature of the chancellor but it has the word DUPLICATE printed on it. Will this certificate be fine with UKBA as a proof of Engligh language proficiency when I send my Tier 1 application?

please mention this in your covering letter, and in Part 7.

That your degree (original) got misplaced and you have been provisioned with a DUPLICATE one, and this is the one that you are submitting.

Dont worry too much man.

Mention the details clearly in the COVER LETTER.

To be on the comfortable zone, get a letter from University of Madras stating that you have completed the degree from that university with all the details (same details that ur degree certificate had) and also ask them to mention that a duplicate was issued to you on ur request. Not sure if they will giv you. But you can always try requesting one.
