Dependants Query

Hi all,
I got my tier 1 visa last month and I'm still in india(chennai). Now, I want to apply dependant visa for my wife and my kid shortly. I now have two questions:

1. My wife's & my son's application, will they be seen as two seperate ones or they will be part of one single docket?. ( i mean, should there be two packets with separate cover letters, separate letters from the bank etc.
(i maintain funds for both in a single account)

2. In my child's birth certificate, my wife's name is mentioned as S. Raji where S denotes my first name. In her passport, her surname is still her father's name. But I have done spouse name inclusion (written in a seperate page) in her passport. Will the initial 'S' in my kid's birth certificate cause a problem for my kid's application?

Please clarify.

How much maintenance funds you had while you are applying your tier 1 visa? I mean you had maintained only for you i.e, 2800 GBP or additional 1600 GBP for dependents as well? and which option you have selected in family section of Personal details form?

On the other person's query, when i applied I maintained only 2800GBP for myself but now I've been maintaining 6000GBP in my account to be safe. And I dont understand your second question.

Thanks for your reply.. My second question is when you fill the application VAF9 while you were applying your Tier 1 visa, there will be a section called "Family information" where they will ask you that whether you want your dependents will accompanying you or joining you later while you were in uk and that question has three options which are 1) Yes or join you later 2) No 3)Not Applicable. My question is that which option you had selected in the options while were applying your visa?..
