Moving back to Canada with a Foreign Spouse

Post by breny1965 » Sun Jul 25, 2010 10:49 pm

I am a Canadian born citizen that has lived in the USA for approx 10 yrs on a permanent resident green card ...I was just married a few days ago in Niagara falls, new york, to my fiance who is a UK born citizen whom lives in the UK ...our first option was that we do a marriage visa for me to go live in the UK with him ....but as of the past while we have been discussing moving to Canada together and was wondering what the process is ...the CIC website is so confusing and i was hoping somebody here could tell us what we need to do and what are our chances of this happening ..

From what I understand you would have to show a plan to the CIC that you will be moving back to Canada. That doesnt mean a job or a place to stay, but show them what you are doing to get a job and a place to stay.

The other option is for you to move back to Canada and then sponsor him. You dont need a job, but being in Canada means that you are already living there.
