Tier 1 to Tier 2

My wife is holding Tier 1 General amd i am holding Tier 1 General Dependent visa till 2013. My wifes company people syas that if they want to send her UK they will process seperate Work Permit i.e. Tier 2. Then what will happend to her Tier 1 General visa and what about my Tier 1 Dependent Visa.

I have searched for the topics but not got the much information regarding. If experts can help much appriciated.

Her Tier 1 visa will not be valid once her Tier 2 visa is granted and your tier 1 dependant visa will not be valid as well.

Just curious- why would they want to do it? The first answer that springs to mind is that they want her to be "enslaved" to them. But perhaps there is another reason?
