Dependant visa issued for period less than main applicant

My wife today received dependant visa valid for just 1 year, whereas my visa is valid for another 2 years.

I thought dependant visa is always valid till the main applicant visa date.
Under what circumstances can they issue visa for period less than main applicant visa expiry date.

Any thoughts ?

I would attribute it to the carelessness of the staff at the issuing post. Write / email to BHC concerned and seek an explanation.

That's what I thought too - She was given visa valid from 31st July 2010 till 31st July 2011, whereas my visa is valid till 6th may 2012.

Sorry for being pain - do you know the email address of the BHC.

Is it bombay.visaenquiries@fco.gov.uk ?
