spousal application in person at croydon

Post by rebmun » Wed Aug 11, 2010 8:11 pm

Hi there

I am new to this board and am looking for advice. My background is this:

I came on a student vise and have been with my partner for the past 2 years. We are planning on having a civil ceremony at the registrars office soon. In the meantime i have not been attending classes for the past 6 months and my vise expires in 2 months. We live together, have photos together spanning our entire relationship, evidense of trips we took together, e-mails, phone records, savings in the bank etc

My questions and fears are

1. is it better to apply in person or via the post. we would rather apply in person as the waiting times are so stressful and we would rather know upfront so we can get a decision the same day

2. how badly will the fact that i have not been attending classes affect my application?

any and ALL advise will be greatly appreciated.

Have you got COA? You need to first apply for COA then you can apply for spouse visa?
2. how badly will the fact that i have not been attending classes affect my application?
Not directly. If you have COA and then apply for spouse visa then my answer is No.

Not true. There have been people refused because of non attendance as they want to see that you have been abiding by the rules of the visa that you have been issued with and attendance is a very important part of a tier 4 visa. They had to return to their home country and re-apply from there wasting tons of money. If I were you, I'd go back to your home country and apply from there to begin with as they don't check attendance. Otherwise, apply by post as they will ask for proof of attendance if you apply in person.

Every case is different.Do agree yours point that apply by post.

Op has only two months visa remaining so I doubt he would get COA and can apply within times.I am not sure about one thing in my mind that you should have six month visa remaining to apply for COA.

There's no longer a requirement where you must have 6 months remaining on your visa but I see where you're coming from because it takes ages to get a COA approval (from what I see on this forum anyways).

Nice Russian name.

Thats rights.I heard home office is taking longer to issue COA.

I remembered one immigration solicitors told me that one should have six months visa remaining for COA.

To be honest I am not sure but I think this thing exits.
