Applying for Tier 1

Post by ankushtyagi » Sun Aug 15, 2010 8:19 am

Hi,
I have got a valid Tier 2 visa with all the documents. This visa is valid till 5th December 2010.

I am currently in India. Is is possible for me to go to UK on my current Tier 2 visa and get it converted to a Tier 1 visa by scheduling an appointment? I can't get the visa made from India, since I can't be without a passport for a month. Also, my Tier 2 visa is valid, and I do have all the required documents, but I am no longer working for that client. Can I enter UK on this visa, or is my visa invalid? I just need to enter UK to give my Tier 1 interview.

Your help will be highly appreciated. Are there any alternatives for getting my Tier 1 visa?

Thanks and Regards,
Ankush

It is one of the responsibilities of your sponsor to inform the home office once they stop sponsoring you. So they would have informed them once you stopped working for them and your visa would be invalid.

Your sponsor's reporting duties
Your sponsor must report to us:
if you do not turn up for your first day at work;
if you are absent from work for more than 10 working days without the sponsor's permission;
if your contract of employment (including if you resign or are dismissed) or if any registration you need to work in the United Kingdom (such as with a governing body) is ended;
if they stop sponsoring you for any other reason, for example, if you move in to an immigration category that does not need sponsorship;
if there are any significant changes in your circumstances, for example, a change of job or salary (but not job title or annual pay rise);
any suspicions they may have that you are breaking the conditions of your permission to stay.
You must give your sponsor all the information they need to be able to meet the duties above. If you do not, we may investigate the sponsor and take action against you both.
If you are an employer, see all the sponsorship duties including record keeping, reporting, and compliance in the employers and sponsor section.
