Need much needed Advice about TIER 1..Pls

Post by docinoz » Tue Aug 17, 2010 4:32 am

hello everyone

I would like to get some advice regarding the TIER 1 Visa to the Uk.

I am an Indian citizen..I tried the points based assesment for the tier1 visa.
I am getting the required points..So I am eligible to apply for it.

I am a doctor by profession. I am going to the UK for doing my further speciality training. I would like to know whether I will able to take up a training post in the NHS if I am getting a Tier 1 visa( general)?

I heard that many visas bear a stamp stating that the holders of this visa cant take up a training post..So can anybody here pls tell whether the TIER 1 general visa also bears such a restriction or not..

I am going to apply for the visa soon..Please give your feedbacks..It will help me a lot..

thanks a lot
god bless one and all

You can not take any training post with NHS. This will be clearly written on your visa.

thanks a lot for your reply to both of you

Can you please tell me if there is any option for me to get into training post other than Tier 1 general?

Or else will I be able to switch over to any other visa which permits that ?

thanks

1. Marry a settled person / British citizen.
2. Switching applies to people already in the UK, hence question is irrelevant.

I guess only option is to get on Tier 2 sponsored by NHS. But again I am not sure about this option that whether this allows taking training post or not.

One of my doctor friend told me that it is extremely difficult to get training post in NHS for non-EU candidates just because of visa rules. Obviously this is not doing any good to NHS as not many EU candidates join and again their quality of english is not very good. But this is government populistic policy and NHS can not do much.

Unless a visa national (read non-EU citizen) completes a degree (bachelors or above) in a medical school in UK, immigration rule 245ZL(d) doesn't allow the applicant to take up training posts in the UK on a Tier 2 sponsorship.
