naturalisation querry

Post by soulfullness » Fri Aug 20, 2010 12:47 am

Hi All
i am going to apply for the naturalisation soon.

I came to UK in 2005 and got my ILR in 2009 I WILL BE COMPLETING MY 12 MONTHS ilr in a couple of months.

my spouse and children came to UK to join me 6 months later than me. and they all got the ILR with me on the same date.

However I understand that they have to stay in UK for 5 years to apply as they are all now over 19 years old except my son who is 13 years old.

My question is when I apply for naturalisation , is it possible to include my son application too filling MN1 form? Or my son has to stay 5 years?

As per the guide line of MN! form it seems one of the parents should be a British to apply for regis tration of my son

' Children born abroad to parents who are applying for British citizenship
Where one or both parents are applying for British citizenship they may apply for one or
more children who are not automatically British at birth (see “Automatic acquisition of
British citizenshipâ€

Hi Vinny

Thank you for the reply. I have another query to sort it out before applying for the naturalization.

I got my ILR on my passport as 06 January 2010 whereas I got a letter backdating the same to December 14th 2009.

Can I apply for the naturalization on 14th December 2010 if all other requirements are fulfilled? or to wait till 06 DEc 2011

If I want the service of checking service from a council when should I do that? just on 14th December 2010 or before it? Are there any waiting time for this service in general due to workload?

If any of you have any idea please reply.

Thank you in advance.

Yes.

Your naturalisation application must not reach UKBA before 14-Dec-10, so arrange for NCS appointment accordingly. You'll need to check with the NCS at council how frequently they send such applications to UKBA. e.g. - if they forward on daily basis, then you must not book before 13-Dec.
