time under fiance visa useful?

Post by catherine_a » Wed Aug 25, 2010 2:21 am

Hi there,

I entered the UK in October 2007 under a fiance Visa and married a British national on December 2007 when i was granted FLR. Since then i have been 2 years under FLR and so far 8 months under ILR. I am thinking of applying for british naturalization, however I am unsure whether i can apply by October 2010 or whether i need to wait until december 2010. My question is: does the time spent in the UK under the fiance visa counts towards the time needed for naturalization?

Many thanks for your help.

catherine_a, any legal time in the UK is useful, as regards applying for Naturalisation, even time as a visitor.

For example, and these may not be your facts at all, say you were in the UK as a visitor from say 01.05.07 to say 10.09.07, before returning to your country to apply for your fiancée visa, well you could apply now!

You must ensure that you pass the "applicant was physically in the UK exactly 3 years earlier than when UKBA receive the Naturalisation application" test.
