elderly dependent visa

Post by newmem07 » Fri Aug 27, 2010 1:02 pm

Hi

I am a uk resident married to a british citizen and have 2 kids 5-6 yrs old. My parents , 59yrs old and dad 65yrs are on holiday in uk . They are due to return next month but i would like to apply for an indefinite stay for them. financially i can support them.
They have sister and brother back in their country but they are all retired and over 60 yrs with kids so they cannot afford looking after my parents. my dad is retired too and is on a minimum pension scheme.
i went to a solicitor yesterday and he is asking for 4500 pounds as his fees and 840* 2 for immigration fees.
Can someone pls let me know if this solicitor fees standard. i find it very expensive. Any advice on any good solicitor. what is the chance if i make the application myself without any solicitor help.

If they are visiting the UK, then there should also be a change of circumstances if they want to apply for ILR as older dependant relatives. Else, they may be refused under 322(7) because of 41(i) & (ii).
