document list

Post by july2010 » Sun Sep 12, 2010 9:30 am

At present I am Tier 1 for myself, can u please confirm the list of documents I have to submit as original?
Also since I am planning to apply for my spouse visa later, do I still need to submit the original marriage certificate now?

Your spouse / partner will need to apply for dependent visa, not spouse visa.

See also INF21 and Marriage certificate.

Please can you elaborate on your answer to the original query.
My friend is in similar situation. He is married but right now he is applying alone. Is it mandatory to send original marriage with his application?
P.S HE is applying from outside UK.

(Ask your friend to) read the application form *carefully*.

Why is there an impression that a marriage certificate is required only when the dependent (spouse) is accompanying / travelling later? Marriage certificate is an evidence of current marital status of the applicant.

I have the spouse name on passport and I can provide a photocopy of marriage certificate. Once I go for dependent visa, I will produce the original also.
I would like to know, in case I do not submit original marriage certificate, will my application be rejected based on this?

As rightly said Marriage certificate is an evidence of current marital status of the applicant. Spouse name in the passport will not suffice the requirement.
So if you are travelling alone or along with your spouse you still need to submit your marriage certificate. Also you need to submit all the original documents, copy of marriage certificate will not do you have to submit originals.
