new surname, old passport

Post by georgsand » Wed Sep 15, 2010 10:58 am

I have changed my surname after marriage and in applying for FLR should I put my new name under surname or the name as in passport.

*important: The macedonian embassy in the UK doesn't issue passports, since they recently changed into biometric- I can only get a new passport in my home country. Therefore it is impossible for me to go back, since my visa is still a fiancee visa, so if I go back to get a new passport on my new name, I can't re-enter on the same visa, since I am already married!

Also a subquestion, on the application it says _full name as in passport_ and then another question just for _surname_ so is this full name a first name AND a surname, or is it just the first name?
Since my first name is the same I could write the first name as in passport ONLY, and then write the new surname in the following question since there is no specification as in passport there...

*my new surname is indicated in the marriage certificate, surely that is valid enough!

Help, anyone?

When my wife went through this - we left her passport in her maiden name and all FLR/ILR applications were done in her maiden name.

In most applications there was also a other names you are known by - and she put her married name in there.

When she then got to her BC - we applied in her maiden name (so her certificate was in her maiden name) - but her passport application was done in her married name and we included the marriage cert in the application. She now has her passport in her married name with no issue.

Thanks for the reply..

I was just wondering on page 5 of http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... 020091.pdf

whether to do this:

FULL NAME as in passport: Name Maidensurname
SURNAME: Marriedsurname

or

FULL NAME as in passport: Name Maidensurname
SURNAME: Maidensurname
OTHER NAMES: Marriedname/....

I just don't know why Full name as in passport and Surname are separated.... Maybe it is specifically for these cases like mine?
