Earning points-Travel & medical allowance question?

Post by call2bala » Thu Sep 30, 2010 11:51 am

Hello Folks

I have a doubt about filling an application for Tier 1 visa from India.

I will only qualify if i include the Travel & medical allowances in the earnings points.

I am not clear about what mentioned in the guidelines from Points 120-126.on point 120-123 they say they will accept the LTA & Medical , but on point 125 they say they cannot if the applicant is reimbursing.

My company pay my Travel and medical allowances and it is mentioned in my Payslip and on the pay slip it is mentioned as
LTA (pay and tax) - Rs. XXXX
Medical (Pay and Tax) - Rs.XXXX

So I thought I can include those amounts to claim points.

I hope some experts can guide me on this.

Cheers

Hi,

I am not an expert but I have some Idea about what you are asking for. If your Medical Allowance & Travel Allowance is mentioned in your salary slip and it is not mentioned that it is a reimbursment of expenses you have already incurred then you can claim it.

Means even if you have done the expenses and are claiming it letter but the word reimbersement is not there; I am quite sure that u can claim that. So Good Luck.

If you get these allowances even if you do not actually incur expenditure on say travel and medical (and do not thus have to provide any receipts to your employer to claim the same) then it is not a reimbursement and therefore part of your Earnings.
