How to Prove my ILR is still valid

Post by Vincenttaf » Mon Oct 11, 2010 12:48 pm

Hi all.

Im new to this board and it certainly seems very useful. Right, My Zimbabwean passport with the ILR stamp was stolen last September along with other things including letters and bills that I did not notice missing at the time. I applied for another one which ive just received. Yeh, Things move very slow in Zim.

Anyway I was granted my ILR in 1998. The only proof I have of this is an Immigration Status Document I received with my passport at the time which I fortunately still have. Unfortunately the Homeoffice wants proof that I have been resident in the country since getting the ILR since if you leave for a certain period it no longer is valid. I have never left the country since getting it but letters I have looked around and found only date back to 2005 and I can not find anything before then. I tried to locate my previous employer who employed me from 1999 up to 2006 so he could write me a letter of when i wotrked for him, I was a DJ then, but had no luck. Ive been informed he retired and moved abroad. I have now realised I really need these missing papers to prove my status. How else can I prove I never left the country. PLEASE HELP. ANY ADVICE WILL BE HELPFUL EVEN IF YOU THINK IT USELESS. PLEASE

Letter from a doctor stating when you went to appointments
Bank statements
Utility bills
Birth certificates of any children if you have had them
P60s
Tax returns
Mortgage statements
Tenancy agreements

there are lots of things you could provide
