ILR - how to bring my wife ?

Post by kaisi » Sat Oct 16, 2010 12:33 am

Very useful site indeed.

I get my ILR on Sep. 2009, I want to bring my wife from Morocco but I have 2 problems, the first one is I am using all the overdraft facility £5000 and the second one I let out my flat to the council but I am still using the same address as I have renovated the flat and add a separate studio to the flat where we share only the heating, water and electricity but I have my own entrance to the studio and they have their own entrance to the flat. Can I still submit the proof of address as if I am living there because I do not want to rent a flat while my wife still abroad?, The tenant is registered as the occupier of the flat as she is on housing benefits.

I am a self employed and student on the same time, my company accounts for the last 2 years show a loss not profit .

Do you thing she will be able to get the visa. We are trying to avoid the English test by submitting earlier?

I am sure the council does not know that you are living at the flat and they would not agree to shared heating etc Think you need to get yourself legal mate

May be I did not explain it right. I am not using the 2 bed flat which I rented to the council, I spent £15000 to have my own studio with its own entrance? the tenant is using the whole 2 beds and get nothing to do with the studio I am using, the only thing we share is the water, Elect. and heating bills.

You'll still need to satisfy the maintenance test. You need to show that you can both be maintained without recourse to public funds. At the moment, you £5000 overdrawn and your company statement is not much of a help either.

So a lot still need to be done mate.
