Getting married Spouse Name change issue

Post by khurramrafiq » Fri Oct 15, 2010 2:26 pm

Hi

My brother in law getting married in Nov back in pakistan.
He wants to bring his wife as soon as he get married, now the only delay would be that he has to apply for her new Id as per new name change after marriage and then passport with new name.
Now question is,

1. Can he apply with her current name and current passport? is there any problem with this?

2. Also will his wife face any issue or problem while her stay in UK for life time.

3. Does she need to maintain any money in her account back in pakistan before applying visa or my brother in law account money will be enough as long as he got enough to support both?

My brother in law is Tier 1 General visa holder.

I would appreciate your earliest reply please.

Thanks

1 She can apply with her current name and passport. I have done this.
2 So far no problem because of this.
3. Only main applicant bank statements will be enough. Do not forget to include marriage certificate in english.

there is no obligation in the UK to change one's name upon marriage - some women do, some women don't. It's a purely personal decision.
I am not, and cannot, offer legal advice to particular people. I can only discuss general areas of immigration law.

People should always consider obtaining professional advice about their own particular circumstances.
